Workshop Facilitator

Dr. Suzi Kagan is a licensed Professional Counselor and a Psychotherapist in Israel. She received her Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. She specializes in the evaluation and intervention services for children with a variety of behavioral, emotional, and learning problems.
Dr. Kagan has lectured throughout the world on basic and advanced Play Therapy skills, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and psychopathologies. She has trained and/or supervised hundreds of individuals around the world.
Dr. Kagan is the Head of the Play Psychotherapy School Israel, The Founder of the Israeli Association for Play Therapy, and The founder and instructor of the Child-Life Specialist- Israel.

School Counselors, K-12 teachers who are interested in learning more about Play Therapy, and others who work with young children.
Background
School and preschool counselors, teachers, and other who work with young children are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of using play therapy techniques and strategies in public and private schools alike.
Play is universal and is a natural activity of childhood. Between the ages 2-11 most children use play in a symbolic way to deal with their direct and indirect experiences. By using play children may be able to organize their lives and practice some control over their everyday issues.
Aim
This workshop will discuss and illustrate ideas and practical skills for overcoming the obstacles that school staff face in setting up a playroom and facilitating the emotional healing for children through play therapy in the school setting.
Participants will learn play therapy based techniques and processes and successful strategies will be presented.
Topics Covered

Describe how to use play therapy in a school setting (either classroom or therapist’s/school counselor’s room or office).

Demonstrate play therapy techniques that help in the assessment of a child.

Design the use of the 30-minute interval to give a child both time to explore difficulties through play therapy and close before returning to class.

List interventions that can be used by teachers or staff to deal with behavioral issues.

Explain how to work within the school system and still allow play therapy to be confidential.
FAQ
If I reserve a seat now and cancel it later, will I have to pay anything?
You can cancel your seat if you cannot make it. You do not have to pay at this stage. A request, however. Your reservation will help us plan workshop logistics so reserve a seat if you are genuinely interested in attending.
Will you help with booking the accommodation at Amora Hotel?
Yes. Our coordinator will help you arrange accommodation and airport pickup.
If the workshop is canceled will I get a refund?
We will refund the full workshop fee only. Transportation and accommodation will not be refunded.
If I cannot make it to the workshop, will you offer a refund?
Given the logistics involved, we will not be able to offer a refund, but you can transfer your registration to somebody else.
Do you offer Continuing Education Credits?
No.
Will I get a certificate of participation?
Yes.
