Workshops in Hong Kong

March 23 - 24, 2018 Bangkok, Thailand ; March 27 - 28, 2018 Hong Kong

Workshop Leader : Dr. Virginia P. Rojas

As the demography of international schools continues to change with the result that every classroom has more English learners than ever before, it is necessary to turn the often- heard mantra, ‘every teacher is a language teacher’ into actual classroom practice. These immersion classrooms differ from past programs and practices and, as such, require ‘coaching-mindsets’.

First and foremost is the changing role of EAL specialists from ‘fixers’ of learners to ‘coaches’ of teachers in order to build and sustain asset-based classrooms to teach English learners alongside their peers. The goals of the workshop are aligned to address the above.

May 24 - 25, 2018 Bangkok, Thailand; May 28 - 29, 2018 Singapore; June 1 - 2, 2018 Hong Kong

Workshop Leader : Dr. Jill Morgan

This workshop is designed to enable Teaching Assistants to enhance their knowledge and skills relating to supporting teaching and learning, as well as gaining a better understanding of what constitutes an effective collaborative relationship with other adults.
