Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Classroom
Learn how to use AI in the classroom with Thom Gibson
March 10 - 11, 2023
(Friday and Saturday)
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
(Indochina time - ICT)
Thom Gibson is a two-time teacher of-the-year educator, Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer at New EdTech Classroom, educational consultant, and an Adobe Education Leader. He has taught middle-school math, robotics, and YouTube Video Production.
Outside of education, he's a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an avid runner, a chicken wing (and ranch) connoisseur, and is actively involved in his church. He, his wife Sara, and their two children, Audrey and Thomas live in Austin, TX.
Classroom Teachers (Grades 3 - 12) will benefit by having some first steps to leveraging AI to not only complete some of their normal teacher tasks, but also how to effectively integrate it into the classroom.
Instructional and Tech Coaches will benefit by getting a variety of ideas to share with the teachers they coach when it comes to AI in the classroom.
Artificial Intelligence has taken the world by storm in the last few months. It's not going anywhere and it's only getting better.
As educators, we HAVE to understand these new technologies in order to leverage them in our classrooms and teach students how to utilize and interact with them.
This technology is the future and we'd be doing our students a disservice if we don't teach them about it.
Participants will learn:
How to use strategic prompts in ChatGPT to develop high-quality lesson plans in lesson time
Different AI tools to use in the classroom (writing tools, video tools, audio tools, image tools, etc).
Ways to incorporate ChatGPT into your lessons with your students in a thoughtful and meaningful way
5E's lesson plan
Thom will model a 5E's lesson plan and allow time for teachers to play with ChatGPT themselves to build out their own lesson plan using some of the provided prompts.
He will share several AI tools & ideas and give teachers the choice to explore a particular tool or plan out how to implement one of the lessons in the coming week, all while being able to ask for support during the workshop.
The goal is for attendees to get a chance to get their hands on the AI tools during the workshop and ask questions of their peers in small breakout room groups or of the workshop facilitator.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the following:
Using ChatGPT to develop lesson plans
Finding the right AI tools for the task you have
Learning a variety of ways ChatGPT can be utilized in the classroom with students
If I cannot make it to the workshop, will you offer a refund?
Given the logistics involved we will not be able to offer a refund, but you can transfer your registration to somebody else. Or we can also send you the recording (limited time).
Do you offer Continuing Education Credits?
Will I get a certificate of participation?
